Vegan MoFo, Orlando Style!

Loukas and I decided to celebrate the first day of Vegan MoFo by eating our way through Orlando on Saturday before attending Zombietoberfest. We opted for dessert first, because hey, it's dessert!, and when you live in a small, not so vegan friendly town like we do, the only time you ever really get to eat dessert is when you make it yourself and there was no time for that, we had zombies to see!

We decided to try out Raphsodic Cooperative Company, which is a cute little vegan bakery filled with vintage furniture, local art, and lots of yummy fresh baked goodies. The menu changes every day, and popular flavors go fast, so call ahead and get there early if you have your heart set on something in particular.

I chose a vanilla cupcake filled with apricot jam, topped with chocolate icing and a "Deez Balls" (hehe), which are peanut butter filled chocolate balls. The Deez Ball made it's way home with me and then ended up in Loukas' belly instead of mine. I could tell by the noming sounds going on in the kitchen that I missed out greatly on the Deez Ball. :/

Loukas chose 2 different "Sammies", chocolate chip and gingersnap. He shared his chocolate chip cookie sammie with me, and it was goood. My photography skills failed me on the pictures of the sammies. They were all burry. :( I really need to practice the art of food photography.

See how cute the place is!

Some other noms for your viewing pleasure!

Even Gluten Free noms!

Next stop Ethos Vegan Kitchen, our favorite place to eat when in Orlando.
They serve hearty, home style vegan food Monday-Saturday and then offer a Vegan Brunch on Sundays.

I had the What's the Dilly, Philly?!
Which is one of their speciality sandwiches. It contains sautéed marinated seitan with onions, red and green peppers, mozzarella cheese, and veganaise. I get this almost every time I go there and I haven't been disappointed yet.

Loukas had the A Fungus Among Us.
This sandwich contains a grilled marinated portabella mushroom with lettuce, tomato, roasted red peppers, and veganaise.

With our bellies full we made our way to Zombietoberfest, where we had a good time running from zombies, laughing at zombies, looking at art, watching old zombie movies on the big screen outside, listening to live music, and checking out all of the vendors. It was a awesome day filled with food and fun. But again my photography skills failed me... I can not for the life of me take pictures at night. :/

Did you do anything fun over the weekend?

  4. So next time I plan a trip to Florida, I have to make sure there is nothing awesome going on, on the day I fly back! I can't believe I missed all of this with you guys! Rhapsodic is a really adorable place, I love the decor. And Ethos has the best food of any vegan restaurant I've been to. I also love the Philly :)

  5. we go to florida sometimes to see my boyfriend's family, and last time we landed right around dinner time in Orlando. We went to both of these places (and like you - we got our cupcakes BEFORE dinner!) and it was so much fun. Now I can't wait for my next trip to Orlando!

  9. I need to get to that bakery!

And what? No zombie pics? (Maybe that wouldn't be vegan...)
