Online Vegan Bake Sale

I love vegan bake sales. In fact on April 16th, me and my friend over at Hungry Vegan Traveler are hosting one in Tampa on behalf of Florida Voices for Animals as part of Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale. It's going to be at Mojo books & Music, and it will be to benefit spay/neuter for feral cats as part of the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program. But have you ever heard of a online bake sale? I hadn't until just a few days ago, when I stumbled upon a post on Chocolate Covered Katie's blog talking about just that... an online Vegan Bake Sale!

On Tuesday, April 5th, Chocolate Covered Katie will be hosting an online blogger bake sale to benefit the Red Cross and the work being done to help restore Japan. For this bake sale bloggers and/or readers will donate baked goods just like a regular bake sale, but people will bid on these items online. The highest bidder will make a donation to Red Cross and the baker will ship the food to the winner. More information on this bake sale can be found on Katie's blog. Sounds fun right?

After much thought, I decided to donate a four pack of chocolate orange cupcakes with orange Butter cream frosting. And since pretty cupcakes don't ship well, I thought I'd make it fun by offering the cupcakes as a kit of sorts. I like to call it the "Fun & Easy Vegan Cupcake Kit". The winner of my cupcakes will receive four fresh baked and wrapped "naked" chocolate orange cupcakes, a piping bag full of orange butter cream frosting, and some orange slice candies. That way the winner can have fun decorating their cupcakes however they see fit. Is your mouth watering yet?

If so, you better pop on over to Chocolate Covered Katie's blog on April 5th (next Tuesday), and get to bidding! :)
